David Cousans’ practice was established in 1991 and operates from his purpose built office in Bassingbourn. As a registered architect and member of the RIBA, David Cousans provides a full range of architect’s services to private, professional and business clients in the Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Essex, Hertfordshire and Suffolk regions. Projects are progressed by working closely with the clients to gain a full understanding of their needs and specific requirements. The site, the building and user requirements are carefully researched and analysed to form the basis for imaginative design, accurate planning and full attention to detail. Communication between architect and client is important and all clients receive a consistent personal service from start to finish.
The aim of the practice is to provide high quality design solutions for projects from the small to the substantial with acute awareness of sustainability, energy efficiency, and low carbon development. David Cousans believes that successful architecture evolves from thorough analysis of the brief and site, strong form and function concepts and these, together with the careful selection and understanding of materials, and attention to detailing, creates a building which is in harmony with its surroundings.
